Every day, millions of people in Africa walk long distances of four to six kilometres just to find some water. This water is often contaminated and causes more illness than it helps.Many villages have no safe source of water, every second one is contaminated.
A single well can change the life of an entire village: It provides clean drinking water, protects health, reduces child labour and enables education. With a well, you not only give families water, but also hope, time and a real chance of a better life.

Building a water well -
From planning to completion
We strive to deliver high-quality construction, technical, and management services to our donors. We strive to build a long-term relationship with our donors based on safety, quality, on-time service, and anticipating their needs in advance.To achieve this mission, we treat all our employees fairly and involve them in the process of improving quality. In this way, we aim to ensure quick turnaround and low-cost execution.

Find a suitable drilling location
2-3 days
- Location selection: We select a site that is accessible to drilling equipment and away from potential sources of contamination, while complying with local building and environmental regulations.
- Hydrogeological investigation: Our field teams conduct assessments to determine local groundwater availability, water quality, groundwater depth, and the geological characteristics of the aquifer..
- Performance evaluation: Teams determine the required amount of water and flow rate needed for the planned purpose (e.g., household use, agriculture, industry)

Preparation
2-3 days
- Site preparation: We prepare the site for the drilling equipment, ensure safe access and the necessary utility connections and set up a storage area for materials.</span
- Equipment: We provide the excavation team with the necessary equipment (pulley system, pickaxe, shovel, concrete crusher, generator and fuel) as well as catering and accommodation for the entire duration of the work.
- Borehole diameter: We plan the borehole with a diameter large enough to accommodate the well pipe and an annular gap for the backfill. Typically, the diameter is 4-5 inches larger than that of the casing.</span
- Housing material: We procure suitable housing materials from reliable, certified sources (e.g. PVC or steel) that meet the local requirements for stability and water quality. We also plan their installation and cementing to prevent contamination.</span

Drilling
18-25 days
- Drilling: We drill the well using appropriate drilling techniques to reach the planned depth and diameter. Excavation and drilling continue until potable water levels are reached.
- Well development and water testing: We continue to develop the well to remove drilling fluids and fine sediments from the aquifer, testing water flow and quality.
- Wall reinforcement, casing installation and backfilling: We reinforce the well wall with cement and briquettes, install the well pipe and backfill the annular gap between the casing and the borehole wall to ensure proper sealing and stability.
- Installation of pump and piping system: Installation of the selected pump, pipes and control systems. The well is covered with reinforced concrete and the pump system is installed.</span
- Final work: Shaping the final well structure with ceramics and ensuring water access for animals in the area by drilling an additional opening. The reinforced concrete system is installed and ready for commissioning.
- Filter design: We install a well filter or screen that allows water to enter the well while preventing sediment from entering.
- Pump selection: We select a suitable pump (submersible pump or jet pump) according to the depth of the well, the required flow rate and the water pressure.

Completion & maintenance
2-3 days
- Final report: We submit a detailed final report on the construction of the well, its depth, the materials used and the test results to the relevant authorities.
- Opening ceremony: We organise the beneficiaries for the opening ceremony and present the fountain to the public.
- Maintenance schedule: We establish a schedule for regular maintenance, including pump maintenance, wellhead inspection and regular water quality testing to ensure long-term reliability.
